The life of Katya Miroshkina, an ordinary 15-year-old girl, was going just fine until her mother vanished before her eyes and bandits burst into her home, persistently asking about a certain staff. Thanks to her mother's magical box, Katya escapes and ends up in 16th-century Rus'. She is yet to learn about the staff of Veles, the magic of the past—Dark, Light, and Black Morok—and the witch Irmina. Katya's only goal is to find her mother, and for this she will have to endure many dangerous adventures: a journey to ancient Arkaim, a battle with griffins, training in the magic of Morok, and a fight against a powerful evil witch.
