Alisa Selezneva, a 21st-century girl created by the famous science fiction writer Kir Bulychev, sets off on an interstellar scientific expedition aboard the spaceship Pegasus with her father, a biology professor, after finishing second grade, to collect rare alien animals for the Moscow Zoo. After accidentally learning about the disappearance of three legendary captains who had traversed the entire Galaxy in their starships, the crew of the Pegasus, thanks in large part to the fearless Alisa, managed to uncover the secret of their disappearance and save their lives by defeating cunning space pirates. This science fiction novella, first published in 1974, remains hugely popular with young adventure lovers not only in our country. It has been translated into virtually all European languages, as well as into Chinese and Japanese. The animated film “The Mystery of the Third Planet” and a computer game were both based on the novella.
