This year, the Penderwick sisters are going on summer vacation together for the first time without their eldest sister, Rosalind. But Jeffrey, the sisters' "honorary brother," will be going with them. This means that Skye will have to become the "eldest" and take responsibility for her two younger sisters. And everything would be wonderful—a cozy little house by the sea, salty sea spray, and cheeky seagulls—but the sisters could drown, get burned by the fire, go crazy, or even burst without Rosalind and their father to watch over them!
Will Skye learn not to be afraid and take responsibility? Will Jane's life change after meeting Dominic, a young guest at the Seagull Hotel? Does Betty really have perfect pitch? And most importantly, will Jeffrey manage to keep the peace among the sisters?
