Faddeika Setkin tells us that there is a saying on Mars: if a person betrays someone, their beloved horse leaves them. He also says that he was a cabin boy under Bellingshausen on the sloop "Vostok" and that he recently spent the night in the bell tower above the city, crowing like a rooster at dawn. Are his stories, so much like a fairy tale, true, or are they real fairy tales? Everyone can decide for themselves. Just don't forget that boys can do great things. For middle school children.

Freckled boy Faddeika Setkin loves to talk about Mars. And it seems that he has been there. His words sound all too convincing. And the war that has seized the distant planet is all too terrible. The boy brought peace with him, but what can he give to the inhabitants of a provincial earthly town? His story is in Vladislav Krapivin's charming children's book "An Orange Portrait with Freckles"
