Lina is fifteen years old. She might seem like an ordinary girl, after all, she has everything like everyone else: friends, a favorite hobby, a dad and a mom. But that is not the case at all. Lina's best friend is not one of her classmates, but her neighbor, the pianist Kira Sergeevna. Lina is also friends with an old lady named Gertrude—a talking tree that grows in her yard. More than anything in the world, Lina loves collecting unusual things—dresses, hats, various trinkets—and has even set up a whole museum in her closet. Lina's dad teaches literature and loves talking about Joyce. And her mom... It's hard to explain, but she is also very unusual, cheerful, and inventive. She and her dad separated a long time ago, but they get along perfectly. Mom and Lina are almost inseparable. They go to their favorite coffee shop together, take walks, watch passersby, and make up stories about them. The only thing is that now Mom has an artist in addition to Lina. Mom is happy with him, and besides, he is handsome and smart, but for some reason, Lina doesn't like him. And so one day, when Mom rushes off to the artist again, Lina decides to tell this story...
