Familiars are magical animals, loyal companions and helpers of wizards. Eldwin had only heard about all this by hearsay. After all, he was an ordinary street cat—skinny, scruffy, and without any magical abilities. But one fine day, while fleeing from pursuers, he took refuge in a familiar merchant’s shop. And so it happened that an eleven-year-old wizard’s apprentice named Jack chose Eldwin as his companion. Since then, events in the former stray cat’s life have unfolded with dizzying speed. Before Eldwin can catch his breath, he is already setting off with Skylar the all-knowing magpie and Gilbert the good-natured little frog to rescue young wizards from trouble. The familiar friends face a dangerous adventure and a showdown with a wicked witch. And the fate of the entire kingdom may rest in the paws and wings of the inseparable trio.
