The Silver Age is the term used to describe a period in the history of Russian poetry spanning the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The name itself was coined by analogy with the "Golden Age" of Russian poetry (the first third of the 19th century), the era of the Pushkin Pleiad. This collection includes selected poems by I. Annensky, V. Bryusov, D. Merezhkovsky, Z. Gippius, K. Balmont, A. Bely, A. Blok, N. Gumilyov, I. Severyanin, A. Akhmatova, and M. Tsvetaeva, recommended by the school literature curriculum for reading in senior classes.
