Tom is about to receive his third-degree ghost hunter diploma, and to earn it, he must pass a test. Together with Hedwig Kümmerzaft, he sets off for the village of Swamp Pond, where a mysterious spirit terrifies the local residents. But the situation turns out to be far worse than the ghost hunters expected. Swamp Pond is shrouded in fog, the houses groan mournfully, and the smell of rot hangs in the air.
