Could we get by in everyday life without metals? Imagine if they suddenly disappeared – no cars, no trains, no machines, no ordinary knife or screwdriver! And if metals were gone completely, our planet itself would cease to exist: a void would form where its iron core once was. The magnetic field created by the core would vanish too, and there would be nothing to protect us from cosmic radiation.
Besides, a human wouldn't last a second without metals. Without calcium, teeth and bones would crumble to powder; without iron, blood would stop carrying oxygen throughout the body; and without magnesium, plants would stop producing oxygen.
Of course, a small book cannot cover everything about metals and their properties. But one thing is clear: modern people cannot do without knowledge about metals!
