About the Book ...When Beatrix Gainsborough learned of the birth of yet another grandchild, she was absolutely delighted. - He must be named after his grandfather! - she declared. - Isn't that a bit of a long name for a little boy? - the newborn's mother replied. - Nonsense, dear! - Beatrix countered. - Jacomin Stenn Marlowe Lewis Gainsborough!... "The Real Life of Jacomin Gainsborough" is an amazing book. On the one hand, the story is very simple - it is the life of the main character from the moment of his birth until his death. But the author - Rebecca Dotremer, for whom this book was her debut as both illustrator and writer - has found an amazing tone and narrative style, so that the story unexpectedly becomes about each of us. The stunning illustration style creates a special atmosphere: we immerse ourselves in the intertwining of the distinctive world created by Rebecca. At the same time, it is so familiar and dear, yet filled with unusual characters.
