A thrilling story about a girl, her mother, and a mysterious Greenland shark. From the bestselling author and literary award winner.
Julia spends her summer holidays with her parents at an old lighthouse in Scotland. Her mother, a marine biologist, is completely absorbed in her major research project on the Greenland shark. This northern shark, capable of living for several hundred years, is so rarely encountered that many consider it a myth. But if it can be found, it may hold the key to extending human life.
Ten-year-old Julia also loves marine animals and wants to become a marine biologist in the future. But she is beginning to think that because of this bold, almost fantastical scientific project, she and her father are about to lose their mother forever.
Julia realizes that the only way to bring her mother back is to go looking for the shark herself...
