When the cautious and clumsy Ulf makes a new friend, his life is turned upside down. Percy is the complete opposite of Ulf: he loves to fight, tramples on other people's caps, and everyone avoids him during breaks. Ulf desperately wants to be like Percy; he dreams of getting hold of Percy's magic sneakers, which, according to Percy, endow their owner with strength and courage. And he succeeds! But alas, it's not that simple...

This is a humorous story about how a "good boy" falls in with the wrong crowd and becomes a notorious bully. It is based on the real memories of the famous Swedish writer Ulf Stark, the author of numerous books and plays for children.

Ulf Stark (1944–2017) was a classic of children's literature, a beloved and world-renowned Swedish writer. Four of his books were published by White Crow: "Georg and the Dragon", "Little Stark", "A Little Love Story", and "Runaways". "Runaways" was Stark's last novella, published posthumously.

His stories are wise and lyrical. Ulf Stark has a special feel for a child's inner world and understands the laws by which they grow up and become adults. It is as if he sees what is happening from different perspectives, which is exactly why everyone—both adults and children—reads Stark's books repeatedly. Everyone finds and discovers thoughts and feelings close to their own.
