The collection includes six stories by the remarkable writer Elena Nikolaevna Vereyskaya. Sincere and touching, they will be interesting to both adult and young readers.
The heroes of these stories are children whose childhood fell during the harsh wartime and joyless post-war period. But children are children at any time, and in their kind little world there is always room for love, friendship, compassion, exciting games, and the irrepressible flight of imagination. Alongside the children are wise and sensitive adults, always ready to come to the children's aid.
Nina Noskovich's amazingly vivid, expressive graphic illustrations vividly reveal the character and experiences of the book's young and old heroes and their friends — the mischievous little squirrel Kolobok and the loyal dog Karai.
