Large Black Bird. Stefanie Höfler

Once, their mother told Ben that death is like the flap of a large black bird's wing, whose shadow falls for a moment on the one who happens to be right beneath it, and for a few moments on those who surround them at that moment. Perhaps she already felt the closeness of this wing?

Waking up one sunny October day, Ben and his younger brother Karl discover that their mother is dead. Her heart suddenly stopped, and with it, the life of the family. The boys and their father, each in their own way, endure a difficult loss. Over the next seven days, they will have to go through many trials, the main one being to accept the death of a loved one.
