- Description
B. Vasilyev's novella "And Quiet Are the Dells..." is based on real events and is one of the most poignant and tragic works about the Great Patriotic War. War makes no distinctions. Age, gender, nationality — everyone is equal before the common misfortune. Five ordinary anti-aircraft gunner girls with different fates and characters and a male squad leader, fully aware that they are going to their deaths, enter into an unequal battle with a detachment of German saboteurs and tragically perish, trying to somehow hinder and delay the enemy. The heroes of the novella perform a true feat of heroism, but it does not even make it into the military reports. Thousands of similar feats, which, unfortunately, have been forgotten, led to the long-awaited victory in this terrible war. The novella was written in memory of those who gave their lives defending the Motherland.
The work is included in the school curriculum for extracurricular reading and is intended for middle and high school students.
The text of the work is presented without abridgment and is printed on good quality paper in a large font. The book contains vivid illustrations.
The medium format, hardcover binding, and light weight of the edition make it convenient for a home or school library. The book will also not take up much space in a student's backpack.
