I wrote a book about a dog, and now, many years later, my conscience is tormenting me. I thought I had made it all up, but in fact, I had simply based the book on my own dog. One evening we were home alone, just me and her. I was typing something on my now-outdated typewriter, and my dog lay at my feet, sleeping soundly. But then suddenly something started to happen. In her sleep, my dog began to smile, twitch her paws, and as if she wanted to run away from someone or something. There was no doubt about it, she was dreaming. It turns out that dogs, like people, have dreams too. What if she dreamed of becoming human?.. That is how the book took shape in my mind. All that was left was the simplest of tasks: just write it down".
