A Story About a Little Uncle

“The Story of a Little Uncle” — a parable-fairy tale by Barbra Lindgren with illustrations by Eva Eriksson. Two classics of Swedish children’s literature tell a story for children and adults about loneliness and the warmth of human connection, and how sometimes all it takes is inviting someone else into your world for life to find joy and meaning.

The story was written in 1979, but with Eva Eriksson’s illustrations, Little Uncle has been particularly beloved by readers since 2010. We came across this book at the Frankfurt Book Fair and simply had to publish it—it is so heartfelt and luminous. Perhaps its story will help you talk to the very young about attachment and jealousy; perhaps the book will inspire an incredible sense of compassion and sympathy for lonely older people; or perhaps it will simply be a gentle, easy fairy tale with delightful, quintessentially Scandinavian illustrations.
