"The evening is coming, And the frost is biting..." Not far from the ancestral estate of the Kostroma nobles, the Kornilovs, near the modern village of Nikolskoye, Nekrasov learned about the antics of a circus bear that had been forgotten by drunken gypsies. The bear sat in a sleigh at the Drovinaki post station and sped off on a troika to the next station in Antipino. Thus was born the poem "General Toptygin" from N.A. Nekrasov's children's cycle. Nikolai Alekseevich Nekrasov is one of those poets who enter our lives from childhood. Before you is one of the most famous children's works by the great Russian poet, with wonderful illustrations by the remarkable artist Veniamin Nikolaevich Losin, who for many years illustrated the works of A.S. Pushkin, M.Y. Lermontov, N.A. Nekrasov, V.Y. Dragunsky, and others.
