To step onto the streets of old Russia and see for yourself a town crier, a messenger, or, for example, a cap vendor, you don't need a time machine at all! We invite readers to meet representatives of old professions, who could easily be found in the markets, squares, and avenues of our country. Who is a sbitennik, how did the sweepers "make spring", why did the shoemaker need a "dog's leg", why were buttons torn off the chimney sweep's uniform — this book will tell you about this and much more.
The fascinating and educational journey back over a hundred years will surely be remembered thanks to the old photographs accompanying and complementing the text and the colorful illustrations by artist Elena Zhukovskaya.
