A guiding star in dark times. A touching story of friendship and the journey of two very different friends. A book full of deep wisdom, simple and sometimes funny conversations, and refined author illustrations. An ideal gift for those seeking hope and comfort.
Lost in the swirling mist, Big Panda and Little Dragon fall asleep under the sparkling stars. Watching the sunrise in the morning, they realize that a magnificent adventure awaits them… The friends embark on a journey through the seasons. They often get lost, as many of us do. But by getting lost, they make many wonderful discoveries that they would never have made had they stayed on the right path. Traveling by day and night, through pouring rain and bright sunshine, Big Panda and Little Dragon find hope and inspiration in the world around them, realizing that even in the darkest times, spring always comes. Together, they explore ideas of friendship, inner wisdom, and self-acceptance. They learn to be present in the moment, cope with uncertainty, and find the strength to overcome life's obstacles.
Feel the soothing influence of Big Panda, who reminds us of the value of simple moments. Explore the world through the curious eyes of Little Dragon, a tiny friend with a big heart.
British writer and artist James Norbury was inspired to write the book by his experience volunteering for a helpline. He took notes and wrote down his thoughts, and then, inspired by Buddhist philosophy, spirituality, and the idea of mindfulness, created this book to share the ideas that helped him get through difficult times.
The book can be read cover to cover or revisited whenever inspiration is needed. James hopes that the words and images will inspire others to pause, be themselves, enjoy the silence, and look at life in a new way.
From the author:
Some time ago, during a difficult period in my life, I came across a book about Buddhism in a second-hand bookstore. The book moved me, and I delved into the topics of spirituality and meditation. The more I learned, the more clearly I realized that I did not have to be a slave to my bad thoughts.
After discovering something that allowed me to feel happier, I realized that I wanted to help other people. So I came up with the idea of creating illustrations to convey these important, life-changing ideas in a simple and accessible way. At first, I never imagined my idea would receive such a response. But people of all ages, from different countries and belonging to different cultures and religions, contacted me and told me how my drawings had helped them cope with difficult moments in their lives. I put my heart into every illustration—perhaps that is why they resonate with people.
